A lesson in generosity will allow students in Derby to enjoy their prom night.
Dozens of businesses and people in the Derby community are donating dresses, make up, and shoes for girls and tuxedos & haircuts for boys.
The clothes are on display inside ‘The Prom Shop’ at Derby High School.
Students can pick out what they want; everything is free.
Several staff members at the school came up with the idea so no child would be left out of the prom experience because of cost.
Debbie Piscioneri Co-Organizer said,
“All kids deserve to have fun, go to the prom and just be kids. And we want to make it happen.”
So far, the Derby community has donated 175 gowns.
Derby’s prom is May 17.
